THE KINGLET GALLERY
Kinglets are one of my favorites and a very challenging bird to photograph. With their small size of 4-4.5 inches and their constant movement, flitting around in thick brush, never sitting still for more than a second or two.
The male Ruby-Crowned Kinglets red crown will be visible when excited but the crown will be hidden most of the time. The female Ruby-Crowned Kinglet looks very similar to the male without the red crown. The Golden-Crowned Kinglets have a gold stripe with black stripes flanking it on top of their head. The male Golden-Crowned Kinglet will have an additional orange crown in the center of the gold which is many times hidden or difficult to see.
